Dr. Moore in the pulpit of WBBC (my bad on the quality of the photo)
Yesterday, it was our privilege to host Dr. Russell Moore, Dean of the School of Theology and Senior Vice President for Academic Administration at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Moore is the author of The Kingdom of Christ and co-editor and contributor of Why I Am a Baptist, as well as a few other volumes to which he has contributed chapters. He has written articles for various journals and is the Executive Director of the Carl F.H. Henry Institute for Evangelical Engagement. These are all remarkable accomplishments, especially considering his youth! Dr. Moore is also married with four sons, all under the age of 6. But the reason that Dr. Moore was invited to speak at West Broadway Baptist Church yesterday is that he is a courageous, biblically faithful preacher of the Word of God. I’ve personally heard him preach in a couple of hostile environments. He did not cower, but faithfully preached God’s truth. He is one of my favorite preachers to listen to and I was honored that he would take time out of his busy schedule to minister God’s Word to us yesterday.
After having the opportunity to see Dr. Moore’s ministry up close, I am even more impressed with his godly character. He very humbly agreed to come to preach at our small church with no financial demands. He was very gracious to all. His four sermons (I made him work hard!) were each excellent. All four were convicting to me personally (for which I express my gratitude) and were a remarkable display of Dr. Moore’s unique preaching giftedness. I thank God for raising up Russell Moore as a young leader in the Southern Baptist Convention and the wider evangelical world.
